Bathurst Memorial

Not a great photo technically speaking, but one that speaks volumes to me.

My grandfather passed away in December 2012 and I couldn't bring myself to watch him be laid to rest.
He suffered from Dementia for a long time but developed a skin cancer that caused his death after just 4 months.
If not for the cancer he would still be suffering, barely alive.

He meant a lot to me, he taught me to proud of myself, do as I want and let nobody put me down.
I never listened to what he had said until he was placed into a hospital for constant care. By that stage he didn't know who I was.
I got my first visible tattoo that week and I have been proud of it ever since.

I will always have happy memories of him, but after he passed I felt guilty I couldn't bring myself to see him in hospital, or attend his funeral.
So I went to Bathurst Raceway, and I buried a can of VB up on top of the hill for my Grandfather. To honour him in my own way.
He got me into tattoos, and V8 Supercars. He taught me so much, and his memory will stay with me forever.
I will be dedicating my next tattoo to him.
